Biking Again

Late last year, a family that had moved up to the Dallas area due to Hurricane Katrina, was in the process of moving back down to the Louisiana area. We passed by their house and noticed a lot of items that were on the curbside. We decided to stop and the lady told us to take anything we wanted. One of the items was the bike pictured above. All it needed was a new back inner tube, a new nut for the left pedal and a clean up.

When I was younger, I used to ride a bike almost everywhere. Biking was my life. If it wasn't city sidewalks I was riding down, it was the woody trails out near Cedar Creek Lake. As I grew older, I used my bike less and less. Eventually, when I obtained my drivers license, I stopped biking all together. At one point, my legs were very strong. I could lift 500lbs with my legs during my high school life.

Spring time has arrived and it has gotten warmer here in the area. In the past week, I have been riding my bike every day for an hour. It's a shame that I let myself forget just how fun biking is. I wish I could bike like I use to back when a biking trip took me miles and miles to complete. I know though, after all these years, I'll have to work my way up again.

Tell me and others about your biking adventures and leave a comment.
